Shoulder Update
For the past month or so, we've been keeping Nova under strict rest - no walks and no running. Unfortunately her shoulder has not really healed yet, so today she is undergoing x-rays to help diagnose what the problem is. Her shoulder doesn't seem to slow her down any, but when the vet manipulates it we can tell she's in pain.
Hopefully the x-rays will help us find what the issue is...

Happy Howlerween
Josh carved a pumpkin of Nova this year for Halloween!! He used a blown up image of her as the template too--So it really is her! It turned out very cool!!

Mega Nylabone
We got Nova a regular Nylabone when she was small... but we were worried now that she's bigger it might be dangerous now. So we went and got the biggest Nylabone we could find - a MEGA NYLABONE!

Beginner Class Graduation!
Nova graduated from Beginner class tonight! She did pretty well but we think we might retake the class after her shoulder is fully healed. She is still a little reactive to other dogs and needs to get better at sitting to greet people (instead of jumping on them).
"I'm listening, Dad! Now where's my treat?!" |
"Look at me! I'm Queen of the Stump!" |
"Beginner class is so exhausting" |
"JUST KIDDING!!" |
"I'll show you how to smile" |
"Is it time for bed yet?" |

Jolly Ol' Time
Tonight Josh and I went to PetSmart and got Nova a Jolly Ball!! When we got home we let her have it. She had a blast-e-blast!! We even had to take it away from her because she was getting too rough with it!
PLUS we want it to last more than 20 minutes! HA!
*Notice some Jolly Ball damage after a rough round of a Jolly Ol' Time*

Changing NSAIDs
Nova's vet initially put her on Etodolac, which is a NSAID - essentially aspirin for dogs. Unfortunately she's had some hiccups along the way and stopped eating at one point, plus had really loose stool... yuk!
Good news is, she's now on another NSAID called Metacam, and it seems to be helping with the limp. We haven't seen too much of a limp lately, but we're definitely going to wait for the vet to give her the thumbs up before we let her get too much physical activity.
